The Trukk is Done

I'm slowly working my way through the Orks I bought last year. Now the trukk is done and I can move on to some other minis. I'm thinking deff coptors next.

Chrismas Eve

It was the night before Christmas and all through the house not a creature was stirring not even a ----- WAAAAGH ----

That's right boys and girls the orks were loose and hungry and those hummies were sitting on the food. Plus space marine in the can is a ork delicacy.

Its a 550 point battle between my orks and my sons Space Marines. Time to try out the new troops. For the SM side its the new assault marines, 5 man scout squad with sniper rifles, a predator, and a 5 man tactical team all lead by a Captain in Terminator armor.

The orks are following the Big Mec with the KFF to find some food for Christmas dinner. 2 squads of 20 slugga boys with Nobz and 2 squads of gretchen. Now it's time for the orks to play with their food.

The Gretchin are DONE!!!!

Just a few months late but last night I stayed up and finished the Gretchin and then rewarded myself by starting work on the Truck. The list is getting shorter of things I need to paint but Christmas is here and maybe Santa will bring me some new stuff.

Finally finished some Mini's

Well I took a long break (playing WOW) from working on my orks. Finally felt like painting last week and finished up the 5 assault marines. Now back to the orks. Just 4 gretchen left from my goal in September. Just a little bit late :)

Didn't Happen

Well I started the weekend with the hope of painting 6 little gretchen. Very easy goal. Did 2 quickly on Saturday between soccer, slumber parties for the kids etc. Sunday the wife had a book club meeting so that should give me plenty of time to finish the last four and then I fell asleep for 4 hours. Needless to say the last 4 gretchen will not get done in sept. but there is always October. I hope to finish the 18 shoota boys and the 4 gretchen in October.

Still Painting Little Green Guys

Last week went pretty well with me able to paint nearly every night. I was able to finish the Runtherders and 9 Gretchin . Just 6 more to go. Maybe I can finish them in Sept.

Overall I had a productive weekend. With all the rain it gave me time to get some painting in (5 Gretchen and 1 runt herder).

I also took a trip to the new GW store in Plano and got a look at the new Space Hulk. It's a must have as soon as pay day gets here. When we got home my son wanted to get out my 1st edition copy and play a few games. We did mission 1: Suicide Mission with him playing gene stealers and I played Marines. I was able to pull off the win by sacrificing 2 marines to race my flamer to the target and burning up the objective.

The 2nd game we played Mission 2: Cleanse and once again My son chose Genestealers. I concentrated my Marines in 2 rooms giving them long LOS for overwatch kills and played static while he played ultra conservative and built up huge numbers before rushing me. The end result was we hit bed time and I had only killed 13 and only had my sergeant and flamer left. I'd like to think that I would have been able to put a hurt on him with the flamer but I really doubt I could have hit 30 kills so we called it his win.

Space Hulk really is a fun game and the new 3rd edition looks like it will be a continuation of the greatness of the original game. Hopefully payday will be here soon and I can pick it up.

Labor Day Weekend Painting

Well the summer was fun but not much painting or playing was done. With labor day weekend here it was time to start back up and I knocked out 3 boyz with big shooters. Now on to the Gretchin. Lets see if I can finish them before the end of Sept.

Finally the current Army I'm working on is the Orks. With Black reach out I was able to pick up a second group of boyz to bring me to 40Here is one boy with a little blood on the chain sword.

Boys in Blue (Part II)

Things slowed down and then what I think is the best box set ever came out (Assault on Black Reach) Not only did it come with a Tactical Squad but it also had a dreadnaught, captain, and Terminators.

Finally I combined the Terminators with some Classic Metal ones that I bought to use with Space Hulk to get a total of 10.

I then purchased a Terminator captain.

And with 5th edition out I picked up Cato Sicarius

Boys in Blue (Part I)

With the Battle for Maccage box set I now had some space marines to paint for my son (He was 8 at the time) but I figured we should start early.
First painted was the Tactical Squad from the Box set (IV squad)
Plus the other stuff in the box

Next we added a Devastator Squad to play with the big guns.

Then we added a 2nd Tactical Squad (3rd Squad) Then I painted a Predator for a Christmas present

The scout squad with sniper rifles just looked to cool to pass up.

Finally I got a free marine from white dwarf and I painted him up as a Veteran. Never got the rest to complete a unit.

2nd Army (Tyranids)

Well about the time I finished painting the SOBs that I had purchased the Battle for Maccage box set came out and I suddenly found myself with Tyranids and Space Marines to Paint.

I claimed the Nids and My son wanted the Space Marines (Blue)

So I started off with 19 of the genestealers that I still had from Space Hulk

10 Termagants from the box set

Finally I bought a biovore to go with the spore mines from the box set.

I really wanted the new Carnifex at this point but got sidetracked and have not come back to this army yet.

The First Army (Witch Hunters)

Why Witch Hunters. Well I had just finished reading the Dune Series, and I was fascinated by the concept of the all female army. The Idea is that old soldiers become Moms and avoid problems of reintegration of the military into the civilian population.


Anyway I bought the basic box of SOBs

Next I went for the Sisters Repentia

Picked up some Older model Immolators cheap on E-bay

Bought the Games Day Inquisitor model to build a group of Henchmen around.

Finally I picked up some Death Cult Assassins because they just Looked Cool.

At that point I planned to get another squad of SOB or maybe some storm troopers but just never got around to it.

The final addition was the preacher with eviscerator that the manager of the GW store convinced me to buy on clearance. You got to admit the old man with a chainsaw look is pretty disturbing.

Hi :)

OK, I decided to create a blog to document my finished projects and to discuss any games I play. My intended audience is me so if you find anything here entertaining great, want to leave comments even better.

My history with Warhammer 40K. If we get in the way back machine we come to a time shortly after I discovered Battletech when Space Hulk came out. (OK maybe not when it came out but when it reached the backwoods of Louisiana where I grew up 1988). That summer My friends and I took over the dinning room of my parents house and did not come out until school started... and that is how my on / off again relationship began with 40K.

The following year I got the rouge trader rule book and we combined it with Space Hulk to form a kind of house rules game centered on small units. This is based on the first rule of warhammer, when you have the time you don't have the money. Conversely when you have the money you don't have the time.

Anyway that got me to col ledge and we picked up additional games of epic (Space Marine) and Bloodbowl but the fact that we started to get busy with life put gaming on the back burner. I got married and took a 10 year break.

Finally when 4th addition came out I got the bug again and started a S.O.B. army. (Never finished/ Never played a game) followed by a Ultra Marine Army / Nid army with the release of Battle for Mccage. By this point my son was old enough to start playing. (sucks to get beat by an 8 year old)

Now a few years later Black Reach and 5th edition came out and I've got the bug again. The new plastic orks are out and I've started my 4th army, Orks. From here we will just see what happens. Maybe I'll remember to play a game or two sometime.
